Much has been written about this unit not starting but I bought it anyway. READ the directons! I have had another Homelite for 10 years and the starting sequence is different. I received the item very quickly and have used it three times already. GREAT buy and supper line trimmer!
Customer Review: Does not start after one season
I got this trimmer which initially ran fine "out of the box" problem is that it started malfunctioning after only one season. Now it does not start at all. After some troubleshooting I found out why this occurs. The trimmer has a mesh filter, this allows the dust into the trimmer. It severly scratches the piston walls and piston causing the compression to drop below 25Lbs. I achieved 60Lbs by squirting thick oil into the engine. The trimmer started right up and ran until the oil ran out and my compression dropped again. Trimmers must have 50Lbs or more compression to run. If this only had a filter it would last like the ones of old.
